Introduction

The Department of Dravyaguna Vigyana, established in 1933, is dedicated to the study of Ayurvedic Pharmacology and Materia Medica. The discipline focuses on understanding the properties, actions, therapeutic uses, and scientific principles of medicinal plants through concepts such as Rasa, Guna, Virya, Vipaka, and Prabhava. The department also emphasizes the identification, cultivation, collection, storage, preservation, and research of medicinal plants. With a well-equipped laboratory, a 22-acre herbal garden housing over 400 plant species, and advanced research facilities, the department provides strong academic and research opportunities for students and scholars.
